naval gazing

The concept of naval gazing is linked to the idea of a fat, little buddha; legs akimbo and arms lightly crossed acrossed his chest while he looks steadfastedly into the abyss that is the belly button in search of same new meaning or explanation or eureka moment in which everything suddenly... makes... sense

For me- 16 + weeks pregnant- naval gazing carries none of these philosophical and auturistic connotations... rather it is a matter of legisitcs. As I look in any kind of downward direction, there is nothing in my line of sight other than a distended and rounded naval and gazing becomes more a matter of morose criticism as I realise that once again the march of the angry reds has begun in earnest and I have little to defend the outer hemisphere other than a little bio oil.

Maybe, to coin a phrase used by oblivion its best not to look down...
